Support community engagement, long-term planning, and strategy work required under a State of CT Community Investment Fund planning grant

logoToday, if you know Torrington, odds are that you know KidsPlay Children’s Museum. You may be one of the 60,000 visitors that the Museum welcomes every year, or you may regularly walk or drive by the over 20,000 square feet of gallery space in our three buildings.

You may even work in one of the approximately 46 jobs supported by KidsPlay’s $3.2 million in yearly local economic impact. If you live, work, or play in our town, your life or the lives of those you love are touched by KidsPlay’s work.Turn back the clock just fourteen years, though, and KidsPlay was little more than a hope. When the Museum was founded in 2012, it was a small, volunteer-led project, open just a few days a week. In 2014, the Museum welcomed just over 3,000 visitors.

Getting from where we were to where we are has been a team eff ort, made possible by countless hours of volunteer work, the investment of local businesses and government, and the support of generous individuals with a vision for our community’s future. Now, KidsPlay has a unique opportunity: to develop a robust plan for what comes next for our Museum. The process will assess available space, community need, and how those two things can come together to benefit children and families.

Your general operating support now will help make sure that this process is a success and that KidsPlay continues to deliver strong community impact while planning is ongoing. In just fourteen years, KidsPlay has gone from an idea to a vital community institution. As the Museum enters its fifteenth year, we are asking: what else can we accomplish in the next fifteen? Will you be a part of this achievement by making a gift to KidsPlay through Northwest Corner Gives?
