Tucked into the corner of Northwest CT is Great Mountain Forest, a 6,300-acre conservation success story and a model of what a community forest could and should be. Over more than a century, the once barren landscape has been sustainably managed and is now a thriving woodland, rich in biodiversity, where moose, black bears and bobcats roam. Today, our impact reaches far beyond our boundaries. Through education and outreach, we serve as a:
- Living classroom for students and teachers
- Training ground for forest stewards
- Research laboratory for scientists
- Recreation site for hikers, cyclists and cross country skier
- Muse for writers and artist
