Kent Historical Society’s Access History Project Tangible evidence of Kent’s long and storied past are clear to those who live here and travel our roads daily. The detailed stories that lie behind the façade are not as transparent. We at the Kent Historical Society are dedicated to illuminating the full narrative of our shared past, which isn’t always readily understood.
Preserving AND sharing the rich history of Kent, CT is our mission, as well as to connect and engage with the community, whether they once called Kent home, are current residents, visitors, or genealogical or academic researchers. We aim to foster a deeper understanding and appreciation for our shared
heritage. Through our collections, exhibitions, and educational programs, we strive to connect people with the history that has shaped our town and its people.
For the past several years, the Kent Historical Society has utilized an outdated Windows version of Past Perfect to manage our collection, our membership and our donor tracking. Although the system has served us well in the
past, we would like to upgrade the system to a web-based version, which can be accessed anywhere, run more reliable reports and make it easier to carry out our mission of sharing the rich history of Kent, not only with the communities of Northwest CT, but anyone who has access to a computer.
The newer version of Past Perfect will allow us to make more accessible our vast collection of artwork, artifacts, historic documents and
photographs as the web version allows us to upload portions of our collection to our new-and improved website.
We consider all who are connected to our town – visitors, residents both past and present – anyone with an interest in local lore – are part of our
extended community.
