logoThank you for considering a gift to support Susan B. Anthony Project’s Outreach and Prevention Education Program! As part of our dual mission to provide life-saving services to survivors of domestic and sexual violence and to advocate for an end to interpersonal violence, SBAP’s Outreach and Prevention Educators provide interactive and age-appropriate educational topics to support learning regarding healthy relationships to schoolchildren in grades pre-K through 12, children at summer camp, and community members of all ages from professional, civic, and religious groups, as well as law enforcement and medical professionals.

Last year, SBAP provided this programming for over 3,000 children, teens, and adult community participants in 20 communities throughout Northwest CT, with topics ranging from healthy relationships, conflict resolution, boundaries, and consent, to sexual harassment, domestic minor sex trafficking, and internet safety. “Open to the public” outreach and awareness events are also offered throughout the year, such as the agency’s annual vigils during Domestic Violence Awareness Month (October) and Sexual Assault Awareness Month (April). All programming is offered free of charge and is customized to meet the specific needs of each group.

By creating opportunities for constructive conversations and holding public events to increase awareness of interpersonal violence, SBAP’s Outreach and Prevention Education Program has positioned SBAP as a unique and valued resource in the community, building trusted and lasting relationships that enhance
individual and community safety, and which provide real potential for long-term, systematic change. In addition to its aim of educating about the topic of interpersonal violence and preventing future occurrences of violence, the Outreach and Prevention Education Program also serves to connect community members with the life-saving services that SBAP provides to over 1,800 victims and survivors annually, including a 24/7/365 crisis hotline, emergency shelter, transitional living, counseling, support groups, and court and medical advocacy. We could not provide these services and prevention education programs without the support of community members like YOU! Your donation today will allow us to increase opportunities for and frequency of in-school and community
prevention programming; update and create new prevention program curricula; purchase supplemental program materials; and create digital programming for classroom and online use.

With your gift, together we CAN move toward ending the epidemic of interpersonal violence, by educating children and adults about the pervasive issues of domestic and sexual violence, encouraging individuals to create healthy relationships, empowering bystanders to get involved when they witness or suspect abuse, and engaging the whole community to hold abusers accountable and support victims along every step of their journey to find safety, healing, and growth. Thank you for your support!
